Editing the Music Video

We finished filming so now we have to edit our music video. We decided to edit on December 1st. My group and I decided that we were gonna edit at my house. Before my group members got here, I went through all the footage to see what i thought were the best scenes. There was a lot of footage to go through. Each scene was probably filmed at least 5 times so altogether it was most likely 60 videos to go through. Once my group member Brooke got here, we went through the footage together while we waited for Madeline to get to my place. While we were going through the footage I found my personal favorite scenes. Once our group member Madeline got there we told her what we thought the best scenes were. She agreed with us and we started editing.
The previous project that we had to edit really helped when it cane to editing this music video. Editing is such a vital process to this whole thing. Editing is what allows the story to truly come together all into one beautiful masterpieces. Because of the previous knowledge, it was a pretty smooth process this time around. Once we were already, everything was imported into the laptop. From there we picked out the scenes that we had agreed were the best ones. I then put all those scenes together into the slot. It was ultimately about  a minute and twenty seconds of footage from the clips we chose so I trimmed it down to about a minute and thirteen seconds which is right below the maximum criteria needed. We stuck to jump cuts since that’s what made the video look the smoothest. This stage was pretty simple and efficient.
I then cut the sound from all the clips so that they would be silent. This wasn’t difficult and was done pretty quickly. The song was then added into the video. We had to make sure it fit in place with the scenes and went along with the lip syncing in certain parts. This caused for a little trimming on some of the scenes and making some of them back to the original length. The video was still around the same time as before. That was essentially the whole editing process for the music video. It was easier and faster than last time seeing that it didn’t take us that long to piece it all together. Editing is a truly beautiful process since it allows you to create your vision. We may tweak it a little bit before we turn it in but it’s really rewarding seeing the final product.
